Send My Friend to School

Send My Friend to School Campaign

For this year's event, DASP schools were invited to a meeting with local MP Oliver Letwin at his place of work - the Houses of Parliament in London! Each school had prepared a question to ask Sir Oliver on a topic or issue of concern to them.

At Frome Valley, the School Council came up with 3 possible questions and the final choice was made by Year 4 children who also debated the issue. Our question was 'What is the Government doing to try to reverse the decline in British wildlife, particularly the numbers of hedgehogs'.

Lilly and Lauren were selected to go on the trip. They were treated to a tour of the Houses of Parliament before meeting Oliver Letwin in the Thatcher select committee room - quite an achievement I think you'll agree!

It was a very long (and hot) day but the pupils coped admirably. We are very proud of the way Lilly and Lauren delivered our question and their mature responses when asked what they would do if they were in charge of the country!
